This scenario was written by Year 8 pupils as part of their project for the First Lego League competition. It would be really helpful to receive comment on this scenario.

In this scenario we investigated how an infectious virus might spread under different circumstances. The scenario begins with a single infected person (Red Dot) who is randomly placed in the world. This infected person wanders around infecting others until they die 2½ days later (60 act cycles as each act cycle is equal to 1 hour). Infected people can be cured by medics (Green Dot) if they are reached in time. Medics will wander around until they are in range of infected people when they will target these people and move towards them. The simulation ends when there are no more infected people.
This simulation has 4 variables that can be changed. Population density can be high or low. Population mobility can also be high or low. There can be a high or low number of medics. Finally, the medics may have good or bad communication technology, which will determine the extent to which medics can find and target infected people. These 4 variables give a total of 16 different combinations for the scenario.
