An improvement on John Von Neumann's 29-state self-reproducing cellular automata, Chris Langton's "Langton
Loop" uses only 8-states (although it sacrifices universal computation). To create self-replication, cells have
219 neighborhood rules (with rule similarity around the four cardinal directions).
