There are no plans to build in a live chat, but we listen to all feedback and I'm sure we'll discuss the idea.
We are however working on building in features to allow you to follow your favorite users and receive notifications about their work.
We certainly do have a social network in the making here. You are seeing it slowly being revealed.
If you look at people's profile, you can see that there already is a new option to "become a fan" of someone. That's our version of befriending people. (The difference to Facebook friends is that it's a one-way thing - the other person does not have to accept. So it's more like Twitter 'follow' then Facebook 'friend'.)
Currently, the 'fan' function does not do very much. It is designed to tie in with the notifications function, which has not yet been published (but will come soon). You will then be notified when things happen that are likely to interest you (such as someone commenting on your scenario or your post, or commenting in a thread that you also replied to, or a member who you are a fan of posting a new scenario, etc.).
The notification will have the option to take you to the place where things are happening, so you can reply. This is essentially supporting a chat. Just not aprivate (one-to-one) chat, but a publicly visible chat with multiple people.
We are currently not planning to offer private chat, but we are working to make this a better social network with public 'chat' functionality.
Even though I've only been on this site for a little bit now it's constantly growing and it's fun to watch. It's awesome to be heard, so thank you for the replies, and I look forward to seeing what else is in the works.
