this has gone from very glitchy to very smooth well done. Can you try getting this cube to react with other cubes, if you can this could be the best physics engine on Greenfoot.

@MatheMagician now I understand so it is just a bug in JDK 7 for windows xp, nothing to do with optical illusion, that's probably why I didn't notice the tint.
