Wow this is really well done! Also, the computer AI is tough to beat (although they have killed themselves a few times). How did you get it to play so well? And when will there be more character/levels?
I updated the description to show how; you tap the basic attack key on the menu until the circle is grey (you still have to select a character for the computer though).

Sorry I wasn't able to update on Tuesday; I have been extremely busy recently! There are a few slight modifications, as well as a new character, coming very soon, but currently my time is very limited. Also, I can try to make an AI demo explaining different types of AI if I have time! How would you guys like that to be presented? A game with source code or a written tutorial with an example project?
The next update will go online tomorrow! I've made gameplay just a bit smoother and added Kankuro and Crow from the Naruto universe!

Wow, this game runs very smoothly for how many actions I assume are happening each act! Some characters not balanced though. Metal Mario is a little too strong...
@Game/maniac: Thanks! The images actually took a long time (upwards of an hour per character) just to get every image correctly scaled and fluid (Sadly, Photoshop doesn't have a batch export to .gif option).
A new character is in the works with more interesting gameplay! I'm also working on character balances, so play against your friends and let me know who seems overpowered/underpowered!

-New Character! (Spawn Master)
-From now on when I add a character I will make a description about their gameplay (included below)
Spawn Master is skilled in the arts of deception, able to summon clones of himself to fool opponents. He can turn invisible as long as he has a clone summoned, and his clones detonate on impact with an enemy. He also has the ability to teleport to a summoned clone, causing it to instantly detonate at its current location. Finally, his rising punch carries foes with it as he ascends, allowing for some interesting combos.
Tactics:
-Hold down the special attack key after summoning a clone to remain invisible. Spawn Master will stay invisible until you release the key or the clone detonates.
-Try to teleport to a clone at the last second before it detonates and immediately use rising punch if you think you can finish off an enemy.
-When facing Spawn Master, keep in mind that his clone will always show the running animation, even while in mid-air.
-Kankuro's Crow, along with computer controlled characters, can still detect Spawn Master even through his invisibility.
I'm not sure. My original plan was to add characters from lots of different games/game universes, and I already have Mario to represent the Mushroom Kingdom. I might consider replacing Metal Mario (Mario's alternate costume) with Luigi though.
